  1. Secondary – All students who signed up for the Western University visit today during Period 4 are asked to report to Period 4 for attendance first and then proceed directly to the Auditorium.
  2. Secondary – ATTN All Grade 11 & 12 Students: On Friday, October 7th St. Lawrence College in Brockville will be hosting “Colleges on Tour”. This will be an opportunity for you to meet College representatives from across Ontario and get information on diplomas, degrees and apprenticeships. We have organized a bus to take all interested students, but you must sign-up in Student Services. A permission form must also be completed and returned to Mrs. Henry no later than Wednesday, October 5th.
  3. Intermediate – Attention all grade 7 and 8 students interested in auditioning for the spring musical Aladdin: There will be a meeting on Tuesday, Oct 4 during the second nutrition break in Ms Stanton’s room.

Youth Opportunities in the Arts presents Open Book on Saturday, October 1st from 1 to 4 pm. Bring your writing and a friend, and meet Lauren D M Smith, the author of The Emperor’s Arrow.   5. Secondary – Do you like to express yourself through writing? Do you write poetry, stories, drama scripts or music lyrics? If you do, BCI’s Writer’s Club is the place for you. We meet the first and third Wednesday of the month in the library. Our first meeting, however, is Tuesday, October 4, then we will go back to Wednesdays. Join jus. You will be part of a totally unique group!

  7. All Red Rams – Student Cards will be sold for one final day, today, during first intermediate break and secondary lunch. Anyone needing to purchase a Student Card after today will need to see Ms. McMullen.
  8. All Red Rams – Photo Retake Day will be on Tuesday, October 4. If you want your picture retaken or you missed the original Photo Day, be sure to get your picture taken on Tuesday. Remember – do not wear green!
  9. Secondary – Attention Gr 12 IB students scheduled to write an exam in May 2017. There will be a very important meeting on Wed, Oct 5 during period 5 in the auditorium.
  10. All Red Rams – Yesterday, the Junior Girls’ Basketball team evened its season record to 1 and 1 by defeating Ange Gabriel 43-19. The girls played very well on the defensive end, holding Ange’s tall centre to only 7 points. The game featured balanced scoring, seven of the Ram’s nine players scored. Strong guard play, some timely shooting and enthusiasm highlighted the game. A special thanks to Josh Puranda, Adam Babbitt and Ms Jacobs for running the score table. The girls’ season continues next week with games on Tuesday and Thursday in Kemptville.

  11. All Red Rams – At EOSSA golf yesterday, Sarah Cushing and Alex Peacock placed 2nd and 7th respectively. Despite cool temperatures and windy conditions both girls finished strong out of the field of 20. Wish Sarah and Alex luck as they prepare for OFSSAA on Oct 12th in Windsor ,Ontario.
  12.  All Red Rams – Yesterday, BCI unexpectedly ended up hosting LGSSAA Boys’ Volleyball league play.   The Senior Boys got off to an excellent start with a 5 win 1 loss record.  The Junior Boys had a very successful first tournament, demonstrating some great defensive skills at the net and had a solid day of passing.  Mrs. Dixie and Mr. Smith would like to thank Mackenzie, Abby, Natalie, Laura, Ellee, Julia, Emma, Olivia, and Katelyn for volunteering at the tournament.

  10. All Red Rams – The Intermediate Cross Country team braved the cold and rainy weather to compete in their first meet of the season. The grade 7 girls team finished 2nd and the grade 8 girls team finished 4th. BCI’s top athlete at the meet was Jessica Tian, who finished 3rd place in her race.
  11. Secondary – Cheerleading practice is cancelled for after school today. Practice will resume on Wednesday.

  3. All Red Rams – TISS and BCI are joining together this year to create a joint youth band. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6-8 pm starting September 28.   4. Secondary – The Youth Volunteer Crew has just dropped off applications for volunteer positions. If you are interested in receiving their monthly calendar of events which outline all volunteer opportunities, please see Mrs. Henry in Student Services for an application form.
  5. Secondary – Commonwealth Public School has a reading program that runs from 2:40 – 3:00, one to four days each week. They are looking for volunteers to assist their young readers. If you are interested in helping out and gaining some hours, please see Mrs. Wright in Student Services.

  14. All Red Rams – The BCI golf team, made up of Sarah Cushing, Alex Peacock, Connor Heward, Dave and Nic Gibbs, Owen Webster, Emerson Cotie and Josh Puranda, competed at LGSAA golf yesterday. The team represented BCI well with Sarah Cushing bringing home gold in the Woman’s Individual competition with a score of 84. Congratulations to Josh Puranda who also shot 84.   2. Secondary – Community Service Hours opportunity: Coles book store is holding its second annual Adopt a School Silent Auction on Saturday, September 24. This year’s auction will benefit Front of Yonge Elementary School and they are looking for student volunteers. They require someone for setup on Friday evening for 3 hours (6-9pm) and on Saturday for 9 hours (9am – 6pm). Volunteers would help in running games with young children and help supervise the auction itself. If interested, please see Mrs. Lukassen in the main office for contact information.
  3. Secondary – Another Community Service Hours opportunity: Burnbrae Farms is hosting a Wine & Cheese fundraiser on Thursday, Sept 22nd and are looking for students to pass appetizers around and someone to play music. The event runs from 5:30 – 7:30pm at the museum at 19 Main St, Lyn. If interested, please see Mrs. Lukassen in the main office for contact information
  4. All Red Rams – Chloe-Faith White, a grade 7 student in Mr. McAllister’s class, will be going to Graz, Austria to participate in the World Hip Hop Championships in October. Food Basics will be holding a donations-only BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, Sept 17 from 11:00am to 5:00pm to help offset the costs. Drop by Food Basics, make a donation to assist one of our own and enjoy great food!

  8. Secondary – Students interested in joining the RAMbassadors are encouraged to submit applications by Friday, Sept 16th. If you have any questions please ask Ms Lewis in room 341 during lunch.
  9. Secondary – If you enjoy dance, gymnastics and have lots of school spirit come try out for the BCI cheer team! Tryouts are at 2:30 pm on Monday, September 19th and continue on Wednesday. Previous cheer team members are invited to attend. If you have any questions please see Ms. Lewis in room 341 at lunch.
  10. Secondary – All students who signed up for the Algonquin College visit today during Period 2 are asked to report to Period 2 for attendance first and then proceed directly to the Auditorium.
  11. Secondary – ATTN All Grade 11 & 12 Students: Ottawa University will be here on Wednesday, September 21st to deliver an information session in the Auditorium. In order to attend this informative session, you must sign-up in Student Services. Please note that if you sign-up for the session, you must attend. Students are asked to please sign the list in Student Services before Tuesday.
  12. Secondary – There will be a mandatory A-Team Link Crew meeting in the Learning Commons on Monday, Sept 19th at lunch. The meeting will begin at 11:20 so please be prompt. Please remember that no food or drinks are allowed in the Learning Commons.
  13. Intermediate: Any Grade 7 or 8 students interested in trying rowing this year are asked to go and see Mrs. Henry in Student Services for further information.
